Michigan Officer Leaps Into Pool to Save Drowning Fawn
An animal control officer in Michigan is being applauded after she jumped into a pool to save a drowning fawn.
The Bloomfield Township Police Department shared the harrowing tale on social media this week.

Officer Betsy Summerfield received a call about a deer in a pool and rushed into action. Upon her arrival, she saw that the young fawn was trapped underneath the pool's cover and was unable to get out. It was clear that the animal was in distress.
So, Officer Summerfield didn't hesitate to jump directly into the murky waters of the pool to save the fawn.

She was able to safely get the fawn out of the pool, but that wasn't the end of the story. The poor baby deer was so exhausted by the ordeal that it collapsed and wasn't able to get back up.
Officer Summerfield "gently dried" the fawn and gave it a little bit of a massage for 40 or so minutes. All of this was happening while the fawn's mother watched from nearby. Eventually, the fawn recovered from its time spent in the pool and was able to happily trot back over to its mother.
Commenters are applauding Officer Summerfield's actions.
Megan P. says that this restored her faith in humanity:
Thank you for showing that there's still people with compassion and bravery out there.
Sarah B. thanked the officer, saying:
Fantastic save ACO Summerfield. Thank you for helping the helpless.
