This upset Ohio State players, leading to a physical confrontation.
The situation quickly got out of control, resulting in punches being thrown and a chaotic scene on the field.
To control the situation, police had to step in and even used pepper spray to break up the fight.
Big Ten Issues Statement On Post Game Fight
The Big Ten stated that both teams violated its sportsmanship policy, which emphasizes respect and civility.
The actions during the altercation not only showed a lack of sportsmanship but also posed safety risks to everyone involved, including fans and players.
Ohio State's head coach Ryan Day commented that his players felt provoked by Michigan's actions and that it was important for his team to protect their home field.
Meanwhile, Michigan's coach Sherrone Moore acknowledged that emotions ran high during the rivalry game and emphasized the need for better handling of such situations in the future.
Both schools have accepted the fines without any plans for individual player discipline.
