Representative Josh Schriver of Oxford recently introduced a resolution targeting gay marriage.

He condemned the 2015 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Obergefell v. Hodges, which ruled that the fundamental right to marry is guaranteed to same-sex couples nationwide.

During his resolution Schriver said:

“If we cannot conserve the bedrock of our civilization, the family, then we cannot call ourselves conservative anymore … Now is the time to reassert Christ as our king.”

Several other states that have introduced similar resolutions, including Idaho, Iowa, Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

Porn Ban Proposed For Michigan

The other resolution that Representative Schriver has introduced is a total ban on porn in Michigan.

This ban would apply to everyone regardless of their age.

Schriver shared his reasons why porn is so bad and should be banned saying:

"Kids can just go online and access porn, What the heck is that all about? That's a security issue. It's ruining kids lives. It's ruining marriages. It's just ruining so many things in our state. It's got to be addressed."

I've never understood how some people think that their personal beliefs and views should be applied to everyone else.

If that's how you feel, so be it. You don't have to marry another man if you don't want to. You also don't have to go online to look at porn if you don't like it.

But when you're proposing banning something for everyone, regardless of their age, it shows me that this is more about personal beliefs and forcing them onto others rather than having legitimate concerns about protecting minors.

Thankfully representative Schriver doesn't represent me.

If he did however I would asked him to stop trying to make things harder for people that love someone who is the same sex as them.

I would also ask him to stop worrying about what people are looking at on their phone and instead work alongside his fellow congressmen and congresswomen to address gun violence so that another school shooting never happens again in Michigan.
