Personalized Plates: These Five Michiganders Love Their Sports Teams
When I got my driver's license I was so eager to get a personalized license plate.
I used to DJ in a hip hop group and dreamed about working in radio, so my idea for a personalized license plate was going to be IMADJ which stood for "I'm a DJ."
or PAPA P which stood for "DJ PAPA PIESZ," my DJ name.
This was me DJ-ing with my group the Inklink Crew at Paychecks Lounge.
How Do You Get A Personalized License Plate In Michigan?
On the Michigan.gov website, it says personalized plates are available in the standard, veteran, and fundraising plate types.
Personalized plates may be ordered online or at any Secretary of State office.
Owners receive a receipt pending Michigan Department of State approval. Approved personalized plates are mailed to the owner from Lansing within three weeks.
How Much Does A Personalized License Plate Cost?
When personalizing a plate, you will pay for the plate (and your registration fee if the purchase is made when renewing the vehicle's registration) plus an initial $30 service fee. The $30 service fee is prorated for the number of months until the plate's expiration date. If your vehicle is already registered, the time remaining on your current plate may be used as credit toward the new personalized plate.
I ended up never getting those custom license plates, but I often find myself looking for vehicles across Michigan with funny and unique license plates. I've been saving up some of the best sports-related ones I've seen to share with you.
