This beautiful flag is made up of red and white horizontal lines representing the original 13 colonies, and the Blue area with 50 stars represent the 50 states that make up America.

I've always thought that the state of Michigan had a really cool flag.

But if I'm being honest, I had no idea what its symbols represented, so I decided to do some digging and I found out some cool stuff I didn't know and maybe you'll learn something too!

In the middle is the state coat of arms, featuring a blue shield, inside the shield is a sun rising over a lake and peninsula.

There is also a man with his hand raised, representing peace, while also holding a long gun symbolizing the fight for state and nation as a frontier state.

To the left and right of the blue shield are an elk and a moose, derived from the Hudson's Bay Company coat of arms.
