1. Saugatuck
If you think downtown Saugatuck is perfectly scenic, you're not alone. In fact, earlier this year they actually DID film a Hallmark-style Christmas movie there.
But don't be surprised if you find ourself day dreaming of falling in love as you're strolling downtown and spending some time at the beach, because it truly is a picture-perfect place to be.
2. Ada
Downtown Ada truly is a masterpiece in and of itself, and it's one of the 'newer' scenic downtowns that you'll find in Michigan. Plus, this covered bridge feels like the perfect place for a romantic walk
If you want to find your Christmas love story, take a stroll through their store fronts and join them for their Santa parade and adorable free tours around the holidays to really get into the spirit.
3. Marquette
The majority of the Upper Pennunesula is a wonderland, especially in the summer. But Marquette is truly the gem of the northern-most part of the mitten.
If you really want to up the romance on your next trip into town, stay in the Hampton Inn right by the lake, and get the lakeside view. Waking up to this will make you feel like you're living in a movie:
4. Holland
We all love to visit Holland during Tulip Time, but Holland is a beautiful, romantic getaway year round.
Their downtown is beautiful, full of fantastic shops to visit, and they are one of the only cities in the US who has heated side walks that keep the snow away during the colder months. Take that stroll and fall in love with this West Michigan town.
5. Mackinac Island
It's no surprise that Mackinac Island is one of the cities you have to visit if you're looking to get lost in love.
No cars, no busy rushing around, just take a ferry to the island and lose track of yourself while you enjoy all of the small town charm that they offer. If you're looking to escape the rush of the city, Mackinac Island offers it all and is just a few hours away from most of Michigan.
6. Traverse City
Don't sleep on this adorable northern Michigan city, because there's a reason it's one of the top places people move to from out of state.
Catch a movie at one of their adorable downtown theaters, or do a little shopping in some of their unique local businesses. You'll forget that you're in Michigan and instantly feel like you've been transported to somewhere straight out of a storybook.
Michigan is full of magical places to spend your holidays or any days, and I hope you take the time to visit some of these magical Hallmark-worthy cities.
