I don't know how you like to travel, but when my wife and I are going to see friends and family and need to stay at a hotel, we usually go on a website or app that will give us the best deal possible on a room for the night.

Most of the time, the places are nice and the price is reasonable. But there's something so cool about getting to spend the night at a fancy hotel

I'll never forget when I interviewed for a job in Evansville, Indiana. The company put me up in a hotel that was the nicest I'd seen in life.

The shower has so many jets on the walls that I felt like a car in a carwash. I had water blasting me in every direction, and not to overshare, but I think it's the cleanest I've been in my entire life.

Now I don't remember how much that room was per night, but It's safe to assume that it was way too expensive for me.

Recently, I saw that a Michigan hotel was named as the most unique in state.

I've seen hotel in pictures and videos and would love to stay for a night, but after checking out the prices I don't think I could afford it.

Can You Afford To Stay At Michigan's Most Unique Hotel?

The website Thrillist, set out to find the most unique hotel in each state across the country. For the state of Michigan they picked a hotel that's located on an island.

I'm talking about the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.

This is what Thrillist said about the Grand Hotel;

"Despite the fact that poor Detroit is the punchline to everyone’s favorite "miserable city" joke, Michigan as a state is beautiful. In summer, anyway. Which is why this 386-room mega-resort where no two rooms are the same is only open from May to October. Accessible by ferry on an island where the preferred mode of transport is horse-drawn carriage (in fact, cars are prohibited), the Grand Hotel offers five-course meals served on the world’s largest front porch. The hotel is currently closed for the season but reopens in April 2025."
