Missing Skelton Brothers Declared Dead 14 Years Since They Went Missing
UPDATE 03/05/25
On Wednesday March 5th, 2025 Lenawee County Judge Catherine Sala granted a request made by Tanya Zuvers, whose the mom of Andrew, Alexander and Tanner Skelton that went missing back in 2010.

The judge commented on the case saying:
“This is a case of terrible and longstanding impact on the community of Lenawee, No condolences will ever be enough for such losses suffered.”
The Skelton brothers - Andrew, Alexander, and Tanner - went missing from their father's home in Morenci, Michigan on Thanksgiving Day in 2010.
Their father, John Skelton, had custody of the boys for the holiday during an ongoing divorce and custody battle with their mother, Tanya Zuvers.
John Skelton was supposed to return the boys to their mother on Black Friday, November 26, 2010, but failed to do so.
When Zuvers could not get a clear answer from him about their whereabouts, she contacted the police, and an Amber Alert was issued.
Skelton's phone records showed he had traveled to Holiday City, Ohio, around 25 miles from Morenci, before returning home on the day the boys went missing.

In September 2011, John Skelton pleaded no contest to three counts of unlawful imprisonment and was sentenced to 10-15 years in prison.
He claimed he had given the boys away to an underground group to protect them from their mother, alleging she had abused them - a claim Zuvers denied.
Despite extensive searches and investigations, the Skelton brothers have never been found.
John Skelton has been denied parole multiple times and will remain in prison until November 2025.
Nearly 14 years after their disappearance, Tanya Zuvers has filed cases in Lenawee County Probate Court seeking to have her three sons declared legally dead.
Under Michigan law, a person can be declared legally dead if they have been missing for a certain period and there is a presumption of death based on the circumstances.
Zuvers' attorney stated that declaring the boys legally dead would provide closure for the family and allow them to move forward with resolving legal and financial matters related to the case.
The court proceedings are ongoing, and a decision on the petitions is pending.
