The string of break-ins at cell phone stores in the Grand Rapids area continued early Wednesday.

Wood TV 8 reports police responded to multiple reports of alarms going off at area cell phone stores:

  • 2:40a.m. police respond to a break-in at Genius Phone Repair located on Celebration Drive NE near the intersection of East Beltline Avenue and Knapp Street.
  • Shortly before 3a.m. officers received report of alarm going off at the Boost Mobile on Leonard Street NE near the intersection of Ball Avenue NE.
  • 3:10a.m. police respond to an alarm at the Boost Mobile on Leonard Street NW near the intersection of Alpine Avenue NW.
  • Around the same time police respond to alarm at the Boost Mobile on Bridge Street NW near Straight Avenue NW.
  • Around 3:30 a.m. officers in the area of the Metro PCS store on Fulton Street W. near Garfield Avenue spotted three people who appeared to be "casing" the store. The suspects were able to get away.

At this time, it's unknown what was taken from the stores. Police do not have any suspects in custody.

GRPD believe the incidents are related and are working to gather evidence.

As Wood TV 8 reports, similar break-ins at retail locations and car dealerships have been occurring all year.
