Police are investigating after at least three people were injured in a stabbing early Thursday on Grand Rapids southeast side.

Fox 17 reports that the incident occurred around 1a.m. near Sycamore Street and Cass Avenue.

Residents in the area were asked to shelter in place.


 
Police initially thought multiple people had been injured in a shooting. They later clarified that the victims had been stabbed in a briefing with the media.
 

Three people were taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. Police believe there may be a fourth victim, who they are working to locate. That person's condition is unknown.

Police are working to determine what lead up to the stabbing.

At this time, no suspects are in custody.
