Muskegon County Hosting COVID-19 Shot Clinic for Seniors this Weekend

For the first time in West Michigan a walk-up clinic to get a COVID-19 vaccine is being held.

WOOD-TV says the event is being hosted by Muskegon County this Saturday at Mercy Health Physician Partners at 221 S. Quarterline Road. People ages 60 and up can show up and get their free shot. They can also bring their spouse or domestic partner to get vaccinated as well. Muskegon County Health Officer Kathy Moore told WOOD-TV allowing partners to get vaccinated together makes it for a smoother process.

We don’t want them to have to make two trips and two schedules. So, if one of the partners are eligible, then they both are.

This means that at least one of you has to be at least 60, not both of you.

2,000 Pfizer vaccines will be given on Saturday between 9a-5p and since it's walk-in, no appointment is necessary. However, this will be first-come-first-serve so it's a possibility the event could end early, so to assure you get a shot, maybe try and get there a little earlier. All you need to attend is a valid ID and you must wear a face mask.

Since the Pfizer shot is a two-dose, another vaccine clinic will be held in three weeks so you can get your second shot.

For those who are still nervous about getting the vaccine or have any questions there will be staff from the HealthWest Behavioral Health clinic on site to help answer those questions and alleviate your concerns.

Muskegon County is holding this event because they want to prioritize the seniors who still haven't gotten vaccinated before it opens up to everyone next month. In Michigan, people 16 and older will all be eligible to get the shot beginning Monday, April 5.
