Get Gelato, Macarons and More at New Café + Dessert Shop Coming to Downtown Grand Rapids
A new shop that will satisfy your sweet tooth is coming to downtown Grand Rapids.
Across from Rosa Parks Circle, Le Macaron French Pastries will be opening up at 132 Monroe Ave. NW, at the one-time home of The Dog Pit, Wood TV 8 reports. It's the first Le Macaron location in West Michigan.
What Kinds of Sweets Will Le Macaron Serve?
As you may have guessed from the name, the new dessert shop will serve macarons, a meringue-based sandwich cookie. According to Wood TV 8, Le Macarons treats have an outer shell made with egg whites, almond flour, and sugar, and are filled with a soft, flavored meringue.
And boy, are they pretty! Le Macaron will more than 20 different flavors, including Madagascar Vanilla, Pistachio, Red Velvet, Raspberry, Mango Jam, Lemon Cream, Colombian Coffee, Bubble Gum, and Belgian Chocolate. According to Le Macaron, they area bout 80 calories each and made with no gluten containing ingredients.
Le Macarons will serve more than its namesake. Other locations throughout the U.S. offer multiple flavors of gelato. Gelato is a frozen dessert, similar to ice cream, but with more milk and less cream, and usually without egg yolk - so it generally has fewer calories and lower fat content.
At Le Macaron downtown Grand Rapids you'll also find eclairs, croissants, cakes, tarts, gourmet chocolates, Italian coffee and espresso.
When Will Le Macaron Open Downtown Grand Rapids?
Construction is under way at the former Dog Pit, and the goal is to be open by late April.
Once compete, the new dessert shop will seat 30-40 inside, and have outdoor seating as well. They'll offer catering and booking for private parties.
Manager Megan McCurdy tells Wood TV 8 the plan is to be open early mornings for breakfast, at approximately 7a.m., until approximately 10p.m.
