There's going to be a new spot to celebrate Cinco De Mayo, as Taco Borracho at 755 Michigan Street is opening to the public May 5, 2022.

Construction has been ongoing at the site for more than a year.  According to Wood TV 8, owner Angel Gonzalez bought the building in late 2020 and has been working to renovate it since then.

The location was previously home to Thunder Mountain Car and Dog Wash, and prior to that (at least according to Google Street View) a Clark gas station back in the mid 2000s.

Gonzalez tells Wood TV 8 that the building actually works really well for what he's planning:

What’s been very interesting is that this building actually lends itself really nice to what we’re trying to do, in some ways better than probably what we would’ve got had we started from scratch.

He says he wants to bring the interior ambiance of Taco Borracho outside, to two outdoor patios. According to Wood TV 8,

The east patio is designed so the bartender can serve people seated at inside and outside bars. He said the restaurant is meant to be a unique space for friends and family to gather with light music playing in the background, not like the club-like atmosphere of other bars.

Not one, but two outdoor patios? Sounds awesome as the weather is finally starting to warm up!

Taco Borracho will serve a variety of tacos, including fish, chicken, shrimp, carne asada, and al pastor, plus sandwiches, soup, salad, and dessert. Check out their full menu here.
