A brand new wine shop is getting ready to open its doors in downtown Grand Rapids.

Grand Vin is a new wine shop that will be opening soon at 15 Ionia Ave. SW, in the storefront that was previously Go Java Coffee, which closed in July of this year after the store's owner decided to retire.

The new wine store will showcase smaller production wines as well as some specialty grocery items from local vendors. According to an article by Wood TV 8, Grand Vin will have "a monthly wine club that introduces food pairings, private in-home wine tastings and free wine tastings in the store twice a week."

Grand Vin will offer customers the opportunity to sample up to three wines in the store before purchasing a bottle. The stores hours will be from 11 am to 8 pm with the possibility of extended hours on weekends and holidays.

Thomas Grimm, a certified sommelier, and his wife Kim are the owners of Grand Vin and they plan to make wine more accessible for the average person all while showcasing producers of all types. They will strive to stock wine from "family-owned producers, and producers that are woman and/or minority owned and operated."

Grand Rapids Planning Commission unanimously approved the site for Grand Vin in their latest meeting and said that it would be the perfect fit for the storefront. Grand Vin is currently waiting for their liquor license approval before setting an official grand opening date.
