I always feel guilty about going out to eat. While I know I’m supporting the community, I always feel like I could just do it myself. But- after finding this new concept in West Michigan, I’ve found my excuse to go out to eat.

If you love good food and a good cause, you’re going to want to check out Love Café in downtown Muskegon.

They’re not a standard café like the ones you’ll find scattered throughout the area. They’re a pay-what-you-can nonprofit restaurant that believes everyone deserves a great meal, no matter their ability to pay. Run by Love In the Name of Christ of Muskegon County, Love Café says that their mission is all about community, dignity, and second chances.

Their concept is pretty simple- If you can pay for your meal, great! If you can pay a little extra to help someone else, even better. And if money is tight, don’t sweat it- you can still grab a bite. Their pay it forward model is a simple but powerful way to bring people together, break down barriers, and make sure no one in Muskegon goes hungry.

That’s not the only positive thing they do to help the community. The Love Cafe offers jobs to those who have recently left incarceration, knowing that everyone deserves a second chance. They offer positions like cooking, customer service, or restaurant management which can be translated to future career opportunities. This cafe is changing lives and strengthening Muskegon’s workforce at the same time.

Love Café is opening this March at 557 W Western Ave and will be serving up breakfast and lunch Tuesday through Saturday. If you’re looking for a meal that fills your stomach and your heart, this is your spot.
