Play-Doh, The Library, And Being Literal – Steve’s Daddy Tips (9-30-20)
For today's Daddy Tips, Steve shares a story about why you should be careful when joking around with your kids. Sometimes they take things a little too literally.
- Today’s first Daddy Tip is for any parents who have kids who love Play Doh. You need to designate a Play-Doh play area for your little one because that stuff can get messy. Preferably an area without carpeting because no matter how well you and your little ones clean up after you’re done playing, there will always be some residual Play-Doh and if it gets ground into the carpet, it’s not gonna be fun getting it out.
- The next Daddy Tip is to get a library card. With the pandemic still restricting the things you can do for fun, entertainment is sometimes hard to come by, but a library card gives you all sorts of possibilities. We signed up online and got access to several streaming services and that was just the beginning. We also took Charlotte to a library and she thought it was the coolest thing ever. We got to pick out books, movies, and she even got to play while she was there too. So pick up that library card to get some free entertainment this fall and winter.
- And the final Daddy Tip of the week is something that might seem like a joke at first, but is actually quite serious. Don’t tell your toddler that the thing they are looking for is in their butt. Like I said, this started as a joke when Charlotte asked where her pacifier was and I said in your butt. But now, Charlotte is constantly shoving her hands in her pants saying stuff is in her butt. Seriously, kid, there is nothing in your butt and I regret ever joking that the pacifier that you lost was there. So, just be aware when you tell your toddler something that you think is funny, they might take it literally.
And now it’s time for an awesome Dad Joke!
