MLive reports that alcohol seems to be involved in the pontoon crash on the Thornapple River Friday evening.

Around 7 pm Friday evening police and rescuers were called to the scene after the boat hit one of the pillars for the bridge.  According to MLive a witness who was on the water at the time says the boat was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit.

The boat had 8 teens on it, which were celebrating the end of school and had been out on the boat all afternoon. Out of the 8 on board, three were injured, two minor and one more severe but all three were conscious when firefighters brought the teens to shore on their boat.

MLive says while police say alcohol is a part of the crash, they are still investigating the accident.
