President Obama is visiting West Michigan today to address an advanced battery facility in Holland.  The president will outline how new technologies will help the auto industry and drive the workforce of Michigan.

Obama is to visit a Johnson Controls Inc. facility in Holland on Thursday afternoon. His appearance comes after announcing new fuel standards for cars, light trucks and work trucks. The Johnson Controls factory makes advanced batteries for hybrid and electric vehicles.

The Obama administration discussed details of the visit Wednesday during a teleconference with media.

The Department of Energy also announced $175 million in support for 40 projects across 15 states to improve fuel efficiency in next-generation vehicles. The money will be distributed over the next three to five years.
