Don’t Make This Mistake Around School Buses in Michigan
Everyone knows that you need to come to a complete stop when a bus has its red lights flashing and the stop sign out and blinking.
But what about before that happens, when the bus is slowing down for a stop and the flashing yellow lights come on?
Do you have to stop for that too, or is it okay to keep on going?

I thought I knew the correct answer but was actually wrong.
What To Do When A School Buses Lights Are Flashing Yellow
In Michigan, it is the law that when a school bus's lights turn red and the stop sign and arm come out, you must stop and cannot pass the bus until the lights are turned off.
But when it comes to those flashing yellow lights it turns out you're not required by law to come to a complete stop.
Just like it's a bad idea to try and beat a red light, when the yellow lights start flashing for a school bus, it's not the greatest idea to pass it because kids are about to get on or off that bus.
My advice is that anytime a school bus light comes on, you should start slowing down and prepare to stop.
