Screaming, Bathing Suits, and Pretending – Steve’s Daddy Tips (6-17-20)

Today's big tip has everything to do with pretending and letting your little one run wild with their imagination.

1. Today’s first Daddy Tip is to be ready for some random high pitch screams. For whatever reason, it seems like toddlers love to go through a phase that involves screaming at the tops of their lungs randomly. Charlotte has just hit that phase and almost every night now, she decides it’s time to run around and scream for no reason. Yay! Being the father of a toddler is totally not headache inducing!
2. The next Daddy Tip is a quick little tip for anyone with who is using a kiddie pool at their house this summer. Always make sure that your little one has pooped before you put their bathing suit on and if they haven’t pooped yet, just make them wear a diaper. I think that this tip is pretty self explanatory, but if you are confused, I’ll just say that yesterday we played in her pool and she hadn’t pooped yet. All of a sudden, she stops playing and bam, instant eww. It’s easy to change a poopy diaper, it’s not easy to change a poopy bathing suit.
3. And the final Daddy Tip of the week is all about playing make believe and encouraging your kids play make believe no matter what they are pretending about. Charlotte has been all about pretending to be a dog lately and we are totally encouraging it. We bark with her, growl at stuff, and even crawl on all fours with her. One thing that might be going a little bit overboard, but she loves it, is letting her eat out of a bowl on the floor. Sometimes it can be a little weird but you shouldn’t discourage your little one from pretending.
