The Health Department says Sherwood Forest near Rothbury has been identified as a COVID-19 exposure site.

According to WOOD, if you happened to have traveled to Sherwood Forest near Rothbury between June 25 and 28 at the Double JJ Resort for the appreciation weekend, you should quarantine and get yourself tested for the coronavirus.

A Kalamazoo resident who attended the event tested positive for COVID-19. Health officials in Kalamazoo County notified the District Health Department #10, which covers the region where Sherwood Forest is located.

Sherwood Forest has been having some serious issues with crowds and people not properly social distancing. Plus the site doesn't really lend itself to social distancing conditions but people still seem to gather there.

WOOD spoke to DHD#10 Health Officer Kevin Hughes who said, "we continue to see increased cases of COVID-19 in the community making it more important that ever for everyone to follow the prevention measures that have been promoted: wearing masks or face covering, social distancing and following proper hygiene."

If you attended the event, health officials say you should stay away from family or anyone you would usually come into close contact with for at least 14 days. If you find yourself with any of the symptoms of the virus like: dry cough, fatigue, trouble breathing, fever or chills, soreness in your muscles, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, you are to quarantine yourself and reach out to your medical provider to find out what your next steps should be.

Just because it is warm out, people should still avoid large gatherings and unnecessary trips to slow the spread of the virus that is still very active.
