Stella’s Lounge Wants to Add Outdoor Seating
Hanging outdoors with friends while having cocktails is a summer staple and Stella's Lounge, in Downtown Grand Rapids, might be joining in on the fun.
MLive reports that the BarFly Ventures (owner of Stella's) have submitted plans to the Grand Rapids Planning Commission to add an outdoor patio that would seat 36 people where they can eat and drink.
The outdoor space would be where the alleyway currently is ("Entertainment District") between 53 and 59 Commerce Ave SW. In a letter to the city, the owners state that the space is being used as a parking lot for only two cars.
A spokesperson with Barfly Ventures told MLive,
We think we can do something really cool to respect the neighborhood and utilizes the space better."
He also said that the outdoor space will have the Stella's vibe - "...funky with some cool murals."
The proposed seating will operate between late spring and fall.
The Planning Commission will review the request at their next meeting on May 25th. The owners hope to have the outdoor seating opened by this summer.
