Steve’s Tips For Brand New Daddys (5-23-18)
Hi, I’m Steve and I’m a new Dad who has learned a lot of things over the last several months and I want to pass along some knowledge to you!
Each week I will be giving you some new tips for first-time parents and one spectacular Dad joke! So let's get to the tips!
- The first tip today is how to make sure that you don’t get sick when your little one is sick. This is definitely advice that I need to take too! Always have surgical masks stocked up to wear while your baby is sick. It may not be 100% effective, but it might just keep you from catching what they have. Plus you can draw funny faces on it, which is fun for you and your baby! Oh and always be washing your hands too!
- The second tip has to do with helping your sweet little baby take their medicine. If you are lucky, they will like the taste of their medicine, like my daughter Charlotte did the first time she had to take Amoxicillin. But, the second time she was on antibiotics, it was slightly different and it tasted yucky! She wouldn’t let me get it near her mouth. So I just took a thoroughly washed finger and put it in the corner of her mouth and she opened right up. That’s when I snuck that medicine right in and bam! It takes several times to give her all the medicine, but eventually, she took it all!
- The last tip has to do with Charlotte’s brand new favorite activity. Bouncing! Lately, she has been getting fussy in her baby chair and swing, so we moved her up to an Exersaucer bouncer and she absolutely can’t get enough. She just bounces around like crazy with a huge smile on her face the whole time! You can usually start your baby in one of these around 4 in a half to five months and it will give them plenty of time to be out of a lying position and they’ll love it!
And now it's time for the quality Dad joke...
