Stickers on Your Car Could Be Putting You and Your Family in Danger
We've all seen them, stick figure families on the back of cars and trucks.
While they look cute, law enforcement is concerned about what they could lead to.
Stickers on Your Car Could Be Putting You and Your Family in Danger
Different police organizations across the country are sounding the alarm on the potential danger of the stickers people put on their vehicles. The stickers give criminals information about the lives of the families they represent.
Revealing Personal Information
Bumper stickers can reveal a surprising amount of personal information, such as your children's names, where you work, where your teenage driver goes to high school, and possibly where you both will park upon arrival.
This gives criminals the upper hand they need to potentially commit fraud, theft, and other crimes.
Making You A Target For Criminals
Certain bumper stickers or decals on your car could be making you a potential target of a crime. For example, a "baby on board" bumper sticker signals a parent could be "likely distracted and may be an easy target."
Meanwhile, an honor roll student sticker might tell a have-a-go criminal that "my kids go here each day."
Advertising your favorite products or vacation spots could also make your vehicle a target for theft.
Putting your family in danger
Some of the window decals and bumper stickers that you have on your vehicle could be telling criminals more personal information about yourself than you might realize.
For example, stick figure family decals show a stick figure version of all the members of your family, sometimes featuring everyone's name. This could potentially put you and your family in danger
A post from the Newnan Police Department, in Georgia, recently has gone viral explaining some of the decals and stickers that you have on your car that could be revealing more personal information to criminals than you might realize.
