Abdulmalik Algahaim, the president of the Hamtramck Public School Board of Education shared on social media what happened.
Several students witnessed the incident and were able to help track the student’s location through social media and cell phone information. Police were contacted immediately. Officers located the vehicle, conducted a stop, and the suspect was taken into custody.
Best Safety Practices To Protect Your Child
Algahaim went on in his post to highlight how it's very important for parents to speak to their school-aged kids about what to do if they ever found themselves in a similar situation.
Some basic rules to follow include:
- Never walk alone. Always walk in groups.
- Never take short cuts through alleys.
- Always report any suspicious occurrences to school authorities.

I'm so impressed with these young kids that witness the kidnapping and immediately sprung into action to make sure that their friend and classmate was able to be rescued unharmed.
I don't even want to think about what would have happened if they hadn't done what they did.
