Josh Depenbrok, Founder of GRNow.com

GRNow.com celebrates its 7th anniversary in May. GRNow founder Josh Depenbrok joins me to chat about how the site got rolling 7 years ago, his decision to create the site in Grand Rapids rather than going back to the Milwaukee area after graduating Calvin College, the challenges of being a new media business, how social media has helped shape the success of the site, the nice following his Grand Rapids historical photos have been getting on Pinterest, the changes he's seen taking place in Grand Rapids since the launch of GRNow and some of the big events you may want to check out for the week of May 7.

Alex Beaton, Awesome Mitten

I'm also joined by Alex Beaton to chat about Awesome Mitten. Alex talks with me about the passion for our mitten state that led her to create Awesome Mitten, perceptions she's encountered about Michigan from out of state friends and how she's worked to positively change them, the site's "365 Days of Awesome" section and what some of the standouts have been and the recently launched "52 Weeks of Mitten Battles" promotion.

I'm really looking forward to introducing you to folks around West Michigan every week who are helping to positively shape our area with their music, their art, their bold business ideas, and the causes they're passionate about!

Tom and Jake Scheidel also join me to chat about the 8th annual Jake's Music Festival to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. We talk about the eclectic group of musicians that will be performing, about some of the important things people should understand about Juvenile Diabetes, and those who help make Jake's Music Festival possible.
