Sadly, scams like this will never stop. The best we can do is share information on what is happening and how to avoid the scam to keep those who are most vulnerable from being taken advantage of.

The Kent County Sheriff's office says an old scam is back. They've issued and advisory about a phone scam involving police impersonators and the sex offender registry.

IRS scams are big this time of year, and now police say there's another type of scam we should watch out for in West Michigan: One involving fake contest winnings from Publishers Clearing House.

Members report calls and texts from someone claiming to be from Chemical Bank, asking for account information and social security numbers.

Some people are using a non-post office website and paying almost $40 to change their address.

The malicious e-mails are being sent to people and businesses across the state.
