The Hose, Perfect Toddler Toy, and Diapers – Steve’s Daddy Tips 7-1-20
Now that it is summer, it's all about getting outside and Steve has a few tips on how to enjoy summer with a toddler.
- Today’s first Daddy Tip is fairly easy and that is you should always assume your toddler will attempt to spray you if you give them the hose. I ask Charlotte to water the plants in the backyard with the hose and I’ve learned rather quickly that no matter what, I will be getting sprayed at some point. So don’t get mad if you get sprayed with the hose, because it’s kinda your own fault for giving it to a toddler.
- The next Daddy Tip is the secret to the best toddler toy of all time. Get your kid a… wait for it… wait for it… a roll of painters tape! Yes, that’s right, a roll of painters tape won’t stain anything, is easy to peel off and clean up, and it gives your child the feeling that they are getting away with something. It’s cheap and effective for keeping them busy for a half hour. So, stock up on painters tape in all colors and sizes for those rainy days.
- And the final Daddy Tip is to always bring a change of clothes for your toddler if you plan on walking further than 20 minutes from your home. Charlotte and I decided to take a long walk to a city park and as soon as we got there she had a pretty big poop and I didn’t have any new diapers or clothes. We had to turn right back around and walk all the way home with Charlotte hovering above the stroller seat so she didn’t have to sit in her poopy pants. I may have made a pretty dumb mistake in not being prepared, but I did discover one thing, girls know how to do the toilet hover from birth.
And now it’s time for an awesome Dad Joke!
