Tigers Trade 2 To The Cubs, Add More Infield Prospects, Including a Top 100 Player
The Detroit Tigers have sent closer Justin Wilson and catcher Alex Avila to the Chicago Cubs for two infield prospects.
News of the deal was reported by media insiders late Sunday night.
The reported return for the Tigers is third baseman Jeimer Candelario, shortstop Isaac Paredes and either a player to be named later or cash.
Candelario and Paredes are both considered top 10 prospects in the Chicago Cubs system with Candelario ranked the Cubs number one by MLB Pipeline. Candelario is also ranked #92 in the MLB Pipeline midseason top 100, giving the Tigers their fourth top 100 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.
Both clubs have yet to confirm this news but are expected to later this morning.
The MLB trade deadline is today at 4 p.m.
