Toys, Crib Sleeping, and ABCs – Steve’s Daddy Tips (4-14-21)
This week, Steve focused on his daughter's ABCs because she just recently learned the song, but he also needs some help too. His daughter Izzy won't sleeping in her crib anymore and he needs some tips on how to get her back in that crib for a full night's sleep.
- This week’s first Daddy Tip is a reminder that no matter how cool a toy is, toddlers will probably have just as much fun playing with a stick. In fact, Charlotte and I went out yesterday and bought a kite and after about 2 minutes she had zero interest in it, so after she ripped one of the ribbons off the kite, I tied it to a stick and she was entertained for a sold 30 minutes. So, next time you think you’re going to pick up a cool toy for your kiddo, just tie some ribbon to a stick and give it to them instead.
- The next Daddy Tip is to never let your infant get comfortable sleeping in places other than their crib. My daughter Izzy has been a light sleeper her entire little life, so we’ve tried everything to get her to sleep longer, including letting her sleep full naps in our arms or in her little bouncy seat. And now, she won’t sleep a full night in her crib anymore. Every night for the last couple weeks, me or my wife have had to sleep on the couch while she sleeps in her chair in the living room. So, keep making your infant sleep in their crib so that you won’t have to be a couch sleeper like us.
- And the final Daddy Tip this week is to record your kiddo when they sing the ABCs for the first time, because you can totally poke fun at them later in life. Check out Charlotte’s rendition below. After hearing it, imagine me playing that at her wedding during the slide show. Ha!
And now it’s time for an awesome Dad Joke!
