Emergency crews had to temporarily suspend their search for two teen boys last night before of strong and unsafe currents in Lake Michigan. However, members from the U.S. Coast Guard were out early this morning by helicopter, reports FOX 17.

The two teens, identified as 17-year-old Christopher Mimis and 14-year-old Vincent Green were at the Holland State Park, Wednesday night, with two other teenage friends when they went swimming by the pier. High currents pulled them all. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m.

Two of the friends were able to get out but the other two went below and did not resurface. MLive says a witness even tried to throw a life ring to the 17-year-old but was unsuccessful.

The teens likely drowned and are presumed dead. However, the search will continue today.

People are advised to stay away from the water because high currents and waves are expected again today, which makes for unsafe swimming conditions.
