Uber is Giving Free Rides to Veterans
It's Veterans Day and today is a day where we honor those who fight so hard to protect our country. Unfortunately, many veterans find themselves homeless which is why Uber is teaming up with the White House and Joining Forces to help them out.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development estimates that there are more than 49,000 veterans experiencing homelessness..."
...sixty-eight percent of these veterans reside in cities where a lack of reliable transportation makes it difficult to reach much-needed services and employment opportunities."
Uber will donate 10,000 rides to help veterans get to work, job interviews, or some type of employee event. Unfortunately, this won't begin until next year but there's something you can do, right now, to help.
Uber's app has a new option today where you can donate $5 toward a free ride for a veteran, which will go towards additional free rides.
If you use the app today, slide over to the option that says 'VETS DAY' and after you get dropped off you will receive a text from the company asking you to confirm your donation.
