Usher Joins Scholastic’s Launch of Open a World of Possible Reading Campaign [Video]
Grammy Award-winning singer and entertainer Usher is working with children's books publisher Scholastic in launching its Open a World of Possible initiative to help elevate the importance and joy of reading for children.
On Nov. 6 at 1 p.m. EDT, Scholastic is hosting "Bigger Than Words," a webcast about how kids can open a world of possibilities through reading and Usher is the host. Registration for the webcast opens today online.
"I established New Look, a charitable organization to assist young people to become leaders and to instill in them a belief that they can create change in their communities and around the world," Usher said. "Being a reading mentor to their friends and others in their community can open doors to endless possibilities."
The Scholastic Possible Fund donate 100,000 books as part of the initiative, which is to include three reading-focused non-profits.
Usher is currently preparing for his North American Tour titled The UR Experience and recording his eighth studio album.
Earlier this year he completed the filming of his role as boxer Sugar Ray Leonard in the upcoming film "Hands of Stone," a biopic of boxer Roberto Duran, played by Edgar Ramirez and co-starring Robert De Niro; the movie is due in theaters early 2015.
