Vernors vs Faygo: Which One Should Be The Official Pop Of Michigan?
Vernors and Faygo are two amazing pops that are made right here in Michigan.
Recently I've been hearing people talking about a petition to make Faygo the official drink of Michigan. I've talked with some coworkers and some think Vernors should be the one to represent Michigan.
I feel like this is an easy answer, but let's take a look at these two iconic drinks before I share my pick.
Vernors vs Faygo: Which One Should Be The Official Pop Of Michigan?
Which Came First?
Vernors came first. It was invented by pharmacist James Vernor and first served to the public in 1866.
Faygo was created by Russian immigrants Ben and Perry Feigenson in 1907
Who Has More Flavors?
Faygo dominates this competition with more than 50 flavors of soda, my personal favorite being Rock & Rye. Vernors is known for its ginger ale.
Let's not talk about the new Black Cherry flavor they introduced last year.
Which One Is Best To Drink When Sick?
I'm not a doctor and this is just my opinion, but I think Vernors can handle any type of sickness.
When I got Covid back in 2021 I drank a 12-pack and was back on my feet the next day.
Ok so that's not true, but come on, what drink did your mom or dad give you when you had an upset stomach?
It wasn't Faygo.
Vernors Should Be Michigan's Offical Pop
In my opinion, the clear winner here is Vernors.
With that being said, I still love Faygo and could drink it for the rest of my life.
