We are almost 2 months into the stay at home order and many parents are running into problems with keeping their kids under control.  Steve's got tips to help!

  1. Today’s first Daddy Tip is a great way to repurposed some old stuff you don’t want anymore into a brand new toy for your toddler. Charlotte is always trying to take my wallet so we decided to just give her one of her own. My wife found one of her old wallets and I dug up a bunch of old credit cards, student IDs and threw a couple of bucks in there too. Now it’s her favorite toy and it’s hilarious when we ask her to borrow a buck and she runs to her wallet and brings back one. Now we just have to teach her about collecting interest on those loans.
  2. The next Daddy Tip is a way for you to get your toddler to drink more fluids. For whatever reason, Charlotte hasn’t been drinking as much as she used to during the day and instead loves drinking water out of the faucet during her baths and sometimes even the bath water too. Yeah that’s gross. So to get her to stop drinking her bath water at night we serve her small amounts of water or juice in mugs instead of her sippy cups throughout the day. Now, if we want her to drink more water, we just hand her a mug with water and she chugs it because she loves drinking out of the big girl cup.\
  3. And the final Daddy Tip is how to trick your kid into going to sleep early. Charlotte’s bedtime has gotten all screwed up because of quarantine and we need to get her back on a normal schedule soon so we’ve turned to manipulation and trickery! So here's how we do it, we will say it’s bedtime about 15-30 minutes before her actual bedtime and get her ready and tuck her in. If we are lucky, she will actually go to sleep, but if she starts crying and wants to come back out we will wait a little bit and then come bring her out again for another 15 minutes and read her a book. So, she thinks she won the argument and then we put her down for the night the second time and she doesn’t fight it. You just got tricked, kid.

And now it’s time for an awesome dad joke!

Q: Why was the broom late for the meeting?
A: It overswept.
