This clip from the TV series Michigan Outdoors shows that catfish were easy to snag back in 1984.

On a rainy day west of downtown, and north of Allendale, Michigan Outdoors host Fred Trost goes fishing with guide Denny Geerink, his cousin Terry and a guy named Charlie Bowles, who is described as 'Cat Man Charlie', for his ability to find channel cats.

This episode also includes a Cajun catfish recipe and the reason why Michigan Outdoors fared poorly on the fishing expedition (spoiler alert).

This video is part of a series of old school Michigan Outdoors videos posted by Fred's son Zachary.
