Don't you hate when you go grocery shopping only to discover some of the food you bought has gone bad days later? What a waste of food and money!

Here are some (weird) ways to make your food last longer. Ways you probably never thought about before but actually work!

  • Use cooking spray on leftover guacamole or avocados. This keeps it from turning brown fast.
  • Store your onions in pantyhose! They will last as long as 8 months.
  • Speaking of onions, don't store them with potatoes because onions release a gas that can make potatoes sprout faster. Instead, store your potatoes with apples which will PREVENT them from sprouting.
  • Wrap the stems of your bananas with plastic wrap (when they're in the bunch). They should stay ripe 3 to 5 days longer.
  • Add a dab of butter to the cut side of cheese so it doesn't dry out.
  • Wrap celery, lettuce and broccoli in tin foil before storing in the fridge. They'll stay crisp for 4 weeks or more.

And of course, make sure to clean your fridge because once something goes bad it can leave mold behind which will spoil the rest of your food.
