The Whitecaps Want Fans to Dream Up the Next Great Ballpark Snack

It might not feel like it yet, but baseball season in West Michigan is closer than we think. All of this snow will eventually melt and before we know it, we’ll be back at LMCU Ballpark on warm nights, watching the Whitecaps do their thing with a hot dog in one hand and a cold drink in the other.

But before we get there, the West Michigan Whitecaps are letting fans get in on the menu.

The Whitecaps are once again giving fans the chance to design their own ballpark snack for the upcoming season. If you’ve ever eaten your way through a game at LMCU Ballpark, you already know they take making incredible food very seriously The Whitecaps are known for going way beyond standard stadium food, and their fan-created menu items have become a yearly highlight.

Last year’s winner was the Walking Southern Porky, which was such an amazing treat.

It was a Southern spin on a walking taco, served in a bag of Fritos that was absolutely bursting at the seams with Pulled pork, slaw, crispy fried onions and BBQ sauce. It was messy, over the top, and perfect for a night at the ballpark.

Now it’s time for their next great idea.

If you’ve got something you think would be incredible to eat while watching the Whitecaps rack up wins this season, you can submit your idea online.

The team’s only real rule is that it needs to make sense at a baseball game. Something that can be prepared at the ballpark and actually eaten in the stands without becoming a full contact sport. Unique is encouraged, and according to the Whitecaps, there are no bad ideas.

Once submissions close, five finalists will be selected by the team’s “Food and Beverage Deliciousness Committee”. From there, the final decision goes to the fans, who will vote on which creation earns a spot on the menu this season.

So while we wait for spring and the return of baseball nights in Comstock Park, this is a pretty great reminder of what’s ahead. Not a bad way to kick off the season.
