UPDATE: WOOD-TV8 reports that Kent County records show Whole Foods has leased space on 28th St. The space is located in a strip mall next to Guitar Center near Woodland Mall.

ORIGINAL: The high end grocery store known for its pretentious clientele is coming to Grand Rapids. But where?

No one knows. Yet.

In a brief statement, the food chain did confirm with FOX 17 News that they will be expanding to the Grand Rapids metro, but refused to provide any details beyond that.

The chain, known for its pricey organic fare, also has some of the best soup I've ever eaten. I highly recommend the hearty lentil.

Trader Joe's seems to have done well here, so why not Whole Foods? I imagine it popping up somewhere in Cascade.

There are currently seven Whole Foods stores in the state of Michigan, with the closest being on Grand River Ave. in East Lansing. The six other stores are all located in the Metro Detroit area.

Even with the absence of a Whole Foods, Grand Rapids isn't at a loss for health food stores. In addition to Trader Joe's there is also Harvest Health on Eastern Ave. and Fresh Thyme on Burton St.

And prepare yourself for people like this.
