Why This Year’s Extended Tulip Time Festival Offers More Than Tulips
Tulip Time is just around the corner in Holland, and while everyone comes for the colorful blooms, this year’s extended schedule means you’ve got even more time to explore the hidden gems of the festival.
Sure, strolling among 5 million tulips in bloom is a must, but once you’ve filled your camera roll, consider switching gears and trying something new now that the festival has extended their dates for the 2025 season.
These are some of the little-known events you can get into at Tulip Time this year with all of your extra time…
Ever wanted to impress your friends with the ultimate charcuterie board? At the Cutting Board Workshop on Friday May 9th, you’ll finish a solid walnut cutting board that’s as functional as it is beautiful.
No woodworking experience? No problem. They’ll guide you through techniques and finishes, and you’ll walk out with a handmade board perfect for your next wine night.
Speaking of wine, the one thing that goes best with it is cheese. That’s why Culture Cheese Shop is offering a Wine and Cheese Tasting that dives into the delicious world of Dutch dairy.
Local cheese expert Elizabeth Sluiter will walk you through six Dutch cheeses, expertly paired with wine and Tulip Time’s official beer. Come hungry and curious.
If you want to take home something truly one-of-a-kind, sign up for the Fused Glass Plant Stake Workshop. You’ll create your very own tulip-inspired glass plant stake, another sweet little souvenir that won’t wilt.
And don’t miss the 90th year of Dutch Dance. In addition to the traditional performances and lessons you can experience every year, there’s a brand-new event this year: De Familiedans, a special Dutch dance experience for parents and young kids. It’s a perfect way to get the whole family moving and having fun together.
You can also paint a keepsake with the Wooden Shoe Painting Class, where you'll be able to take home your own shoes afterwards.
