So maybe you have a few children with different people and can’t move out of state… or maybe you hate all the humidity living in the south would bring, but you really want to live on an island; GOOD NEWS, there’s one for sale in Michigan!

It’s called Round Island and it’s just a short boat ride from Goetzville,  in the heart of the St. Mary’s River, between the U.S. and Canada along the eastern shore; sounds fancy right?

The island comes with a caretaker AND has room for a helipad and guesthouses to be added.  The main house, which is also a historic lighthouse,  is a 2,000 square foot, three bedroom, two bath home.

According to the listing, it also has hardwood floors, electric heat, plenty of patio/deck seating and it has a trash compactor.  It also has a two car garage, which is weird, because I don’t know about you, but my car doesn’t drive on water….

The house was originally built in 1890, and the current owners renovated (well, basically rebuilt) the house during the 90’s

Georgeann Lindberg, the current owner told MLive, that when she and her late husband bought the island, the lighthouse was not in the shape it is today.  She said it was pretty much falling down. There was also no electricity or plumbing, but as you can see, that’s not the case anymore

She also says the home has awesome views of St. Mary’s River where you can watch the boats and freighters go by.

“They’re just magnificent at night.  When you look at the ships going away from you, the the stern, it looks like a tiered wedding cake all lit up. “

The fact she just sold the awesome views by equating it to cake has me sold.  I mean the whole island thing pretty much had me hooked, but to describe it as a cake.. brilliant!

They’re asking $1,495,000, but after watching Island Hunters on HGTV, I think we can get it for 1,295,000.  HAHA, not really, all I’ve learned from that show is that people from Canada have enough money and some kind of weird job,  to just escape to an island.

Check out the pictures and video tour; then let’s all pool together our monies… and your credit, because mine’s not that great.
