100-Year-Old Woman is Surprised with 16,000 Cards and a Birthday Party

100-year-old Winnie Blagden of England was in for a surprise for her birthday on May 31, when thousands of strangers contributed to giving her a special day.

The woman's caretaker wanted to make her birthday memorable. Winnie's husband passed away years ago and she has no children - the community, however, was quick to step in and become a new family for her.

In addition to a large surprise party, Winnie also received some 16,000 birthday cards - mostly from strangers - with a few from her favorite stars and even one from an old friend she had lost touch with.
