17 Weirdly Amazing Things You Can Borrow From The Herrick District Library
Public Libraries are arguably one of the cornerstones of a good community. Not only do they offer a space to educate, grow, and entertain ourselves, they're also good neighbors.
Libraries will take people in during bad weather, they offer a place to check your internet if you're without, and you may not know: you can check out more than books.
We all know that many libraries in West Michigan and beyond offer not only book loans, but DVDS, Music, and even digital e-books can be found. But, I was shocked at some of the things I didn't know about already!
Recently, I read an article about the Herrick District Library in Holland and how they are offering a light therapy reading space for people to use, which is amazing. Light therapy allows people to get vital vitamin D that they may miss during the winter months when the sun isn't out as much.
In that article, I learned that the therapy light being used is actually one of the many things you can check out from the Herrick District Library's "Library of Things and Tools".
There are a lot of things you'd expect to find for checkout like hard drives, cameras, and small basic tools. But, I was surprised to find just exactly how many extremely specific and niece items and tools they offer to loan out to the community.
I went through and dug up some of the strangest (and coolest) items up for checkout in Holland:
