Four of Michigan's universities have been ranked among the worlds best in a recent report by the QS World University Rankings.

The University of Michigan is the highest ranked university in the state, coming in at number 21 worldwide, and according to MLive.com, it is the highest ranked public university in the world.  The other Michigan schools that made the list are Michigan State University, Wayne State University, and Michigan Technological University.

Here's how the 4 schools that made the list from Michigan stack up in the top 1,000.

The QS World University Rankings evaluated over 5,500 colleges and universities throughout the world and ranked the 1,000 best.  The rankings are determined using 6 metrics which are individually weighted.  These metrics include:

  1. Academic Reputation
  2. Employer Reputation
  3. Faculty/Student Ratio
  4. Citations per faculty
  5. International Faculty Ratio
  6. International Student Ratio

It is quite the honor for Michiganders to share the state with these fine institutions of higher learning and we should be proud of all of our schools in this great state.
