ArtPrize 2014: The Winners [Video]
Anila Quayyum Agha’s “Intersections” is the public vote grand prize winner of ArtPrize 2014.
The juried grand prize produced a tie between Quayyum Agha’s “Intersections” at Grand Rapids Art Museum and Sonya Clark’s “The Hair Craft Project” at Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University.
Quayyum Agha's wins, announced Friday night in ceremonies at the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, total $300,000 for the Indianapolis resident.

Juror Susan Sollins, Art21 executive director, explained the tie.
“By the end of our adventure and after much discussion, we came to the conclusion that there were two artists of equal caliber and talent who had risen to the top of our list," she said. "Their work is incredibly different, and their backgrounds are equally so. In the end, we felt strongly that both artists had to be recognized equally. There was nothing for us to do but to declare a tie.”

JURY: Sonya Clark’s “The Hair Craft Project” Kendall College. Clark is from Richmond, Va.

PUBLIC: Marc Sijan’s "Reciprocity" at Grand Rapids Art Museum. Sijan is from Milwaukee.
JURY: Maximo Gonzales’ “Tengo Hambre” at Kendall College. Gonzales is from Mexico City.
Time-Based Winners of $20,000
PUBLIC: Robert Shangle’s "Your Move?" at Harris Building. Shangle is from Sparta.
JURY: Dance In The Annex’s “Respirador (Breather)” at SiTE:LAB. Dance in the Annex is from Grand Rapids.
Installation Winners of $20,000
