This is probably one of the coolest things you’ll read today. A police officer in Gainesville responded to a complaint against some kids, but how he handled it was something the media typically doesn’t share. This blew up so big that Shaquille O’Neil showed up to surprise the officer and the kids.

This story starts with a video that was shared on the Gainesville Police Department’s Facebook page on January 21. The video explains that Officer Bobby White was dispatched to a complaint that involved kids playing basketball “loudly” in the streets. The video comes from Officer White’s dash cam and shows the kids playing, and White getting out to play with them.

Officer White was recently dispatched to a call of kids playing basketball "loudly" in the streets. In the evening. Having fun. Not committing crimes. Let's see how he handled it.

Yes, instead of screaming at the kids, he actually got out of his car and played a game of basketball with them. This is something you typically don’t see in the media, but this happens way more than what is reported. Anyway, toward the end Officer White lets the kids know it’s okay for them to be playing basketball, but informed them of the complaint and asked that they try not to be too loud. He then told them he would bring some backup next time so he could play a fair game with the kids.

As of this post, the video received over 300,000 shares on Facebook, and it got the attention of Shaquille O’Neil. So guess to who Officer White brought with him as backup?

Check out the video, it’s just a reminder that most officers are out there doing great things for their communities.
