West Michigan Anchor Brittany Flowers Leaving WOOD TV
If you’ve flipped on WOOD TV8 over the last few years, chances are you've seen the friendly, familiar face of Brittany Flowers, whether you were starting your day with Daybreak, catching up on the weekend news, or later watching her anchor “The Seven.”
But after nearly five years at the station she once stood outside of dreaming about, Brittany is getting ready to say goodbye.
The Jenison native announced this week that her final day with WOOD TV will be July 3. It’s a bittersweet moment for Brittany, who grew up watching News 8 before that she always knew she wanted to be part of it one day. (And she made that dream come true!)
“Local journalism is so important,” Brittany shared in her heartfelt farewell post, adding how much she’s cherished telling stories in her hometown and connecting with viewers across West Michigan.
Brittany joined the WOOD TV team as a morning reporter in early 2021, moving up quickly to become the weekend anchor and then the face of the station’s new 7 p.m. newscast.
But her passion for storytelling started long before she stepped into a newsroom. Brittany studied journalism and Spanish at Michigan State, spent time abroad, and even took a post-grad backpacking trip through Europe before jumping into broadcast news.
She worked at WLNS-TV in Lansing before landing her dream role in her hometown.

And for her, that’s exactly what WOOD TV has been, a second home. We’ll be watching to see what’s next.
