City of Muskegon Cancels 4th of July Fireworks
It isn't even Spring yet and summer events are already getting cancelled.
Muskegon has become the second West Michigan city (for now) to cancel their 4th of July festivities. The news comes less than a week after South Haven announced they would be calling off their fireworks for the second year in a row.
WZZM says organizers for the Muskegon RockStock have rescheduled it for 2022. The decision to cancel was due to the "many unknowns" of the pandemic. This is a bummer for residents as public fireworks are just one aspect of RockStock. The event spans over five nights and includes a carnival, live music, and local eats and drinks. The whole thing takes place in Downtown Muskegon near the lake.
The city is still hopeful that some other summer events can still happen such as the Shoreline Jazz Festival at the end of August and the Polish Festival during Labor Day weekend.

According to WZZM firework shows are still a go at Twin Lake Park in Muskegon County. The city of Grand Haven will make their decision on whether to cancel or not at their upcoming city council meeting on the 15th. Holland residents won't know if they'll get to watch fireworks from their hometown until April or May.
No Kent County cities have revealed their plans yet for 4th of July.
