You Could Own This Classic 1984 Michigan Fire Department Suburban
It's giving Stranger Things vibes, and I'm obsessed. A West Michigan fire department is currently receiving bids for its retired 1984 Suburban.

(And, I regret to inform you that a vehicle from 1984 is now considered a "classic".)
Ravenna Area Fire Department Suburban Up For Sale
When I first saw this vehicle, posted by the Ravenna Area Fire Department, pop up in my Facebook feed, it immediately made me think of the vehicle that Hopper drives in Stranger Things. (I have since learned that Hopper doesn't drive a Suburban; he drives a Chevrolet K5 Blazer.)

Sure, the vehicle is 42 years old, but it's in surprisingly good shape given its age. (I say as a human being who is two years older than this vehicle and is not in surprisingly good shape for their age.)
For starters, it still runs, which you can see in the comments of the department's Facebook post. You can also tell from the visible exhaust in photos like this one:
And though it's been around for a long time, the Suburban only has 26,295 miles on it. It has a small block 350 engine, is 4x4, and is all original. Plus, it has these benches in the back like we used to have to sit on in the back of station wagons in the '80s.
It's important to note that this will be sold "as is".
Sure, there's a little bit of rust, but that's to be expected on any Michigan vehicle that's been around for that long.
How You Can Purchase the Ravenna Area Fire Department's Retired Suburban
You can't just walk up and say, "Yes, hello, I'll take one four-decades-old Suburban, please." But the department is taking sealed bids on the vehicle from now until February 13, 2026. The opening bid is set at $2,500.
You can either drop off or mail your bids to the Ravenna Township Office located at 2770 Blackmer Rd., Ravenna, Michigan, 29541. Or the Ravenna Area Fire Department located at 3763 Blackmer Rd., Ravenna, Michigan, 49541.
