CDC Sees Increase In Drug Resistant And Deadly Fungus
The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that cases of Candida auris infections have nearly tripled in the past three and a half months.
Because of this, healthcare providers are struggling to contain the drug-resistant and deadly fungus.

Candida auris is s a type of fungus that can cause severe illness, particularly in hospitalized patients and those in long-term care facilities including here in Michigan.
The scary part is that this fungus can survive for weeks or even months, and if someone does become infected, there are several strains that have shown resistance to all known antifungal medicines.
What that means is that if you were to become infected, your body would be on its own against the deadly fungus, which is not good.
The CDC estimated that “based on information from a limited number of patients, 30–60% of people with C. auris infections have died.
It should be noted that many of these people had other serious illnesses that also increased their risk of death.
